Newsletter week 8 term 2 Foundation 

Lots of learning has been happening in Foundation... 

Literacy: 

We have now learnt all these letters and tricky words in class. 

The children have been practicing using these letters and words in their reading and writing and doing a wonderful job! We have added some new sounds and tricky words to your child's keyring. These tricky words can also be found at the back of the white reading diary. Please take the time to practice some of these when you are reading with your child. 

Numeracy: 

In maths we have been learning about number and place value, especially focussing on the ‘teen’ numbers. The children are learning to read, write and order numbers to 20 and understanding that ‘teen’ numbers are made up of one ten and some ones. They have been representing the ‘teen’ numbers using ten frames and counters.  

Inquiry: 

During Digital technologies, we have been exploring using the new computers. The children are learning to navigate the control pad and touch screen. They have also begun to learn about using Bee Bots and giving directions for the Bee Bot to perform. 

Religion: 

We have been learning about God’s wonderful creation and how we can find God in all things, in how we play, interact with others and in nature. Our focus has been on ‘kindness’ and being a kind friend to others. 

A reminder to please ensure all items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child’s name as we have several lost property items unnamed.
