Acting Principal's Message

I hope all families enjoyed a safe, happy, and restful break. Long weekends are such a valuable opportunity to slow down, spend quality time with family and friends, and recharge before the busy final weeks of term ahead.

Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist

A fortnight ago, our parish community gathered at St. Joseph's Parish Cobram to celebrate the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist with a group of our students and their families.

Confirmation is a special sacrament in which candidates receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit and are strengthened in their faith, continuing their journey as active members of the Catholic Church. Through the anointing with sacred chrism, they are called to live as witnesses of Christ in their daily lives.

The Eucharist is at the heart of Catholic life. In receiving Holy Communion for the first time, students are welcomed more fully into the Church community as they share in the Body and Blood of Christ. The Eucharist nourishes our faith, strengthens our relationship with Jesus, and unites us with one another as God's people.

The celebration was a joyful and prayerful occasion, reflecting the dedication of our students, families, parish and school staff who have supported the sacramental journey. We congratulate all candidates and pray that they continue to grow in faith, hope and love as they embrace the gifts of these important sacraments. A special mention goes to Mrs Allen, Mrs Nye, Miss Bonner and Mr Harding for their leadership and implementation of the program.

Reconciliation Week

Last week, St. Joseph's Cobram proudly celebrated Reconciliation Week, led by our wonderful Year 5 FIRE Carriers.

Throughout the week, students were invited to participate in lunchtime activities that celebrated and deepened our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Activities encouraged students to connect with nature, work together through games and challenges, spend time in quiet reflection, and consider how each of us can contribute to reconciliation and a more inclusive school community.

It was inspiring to see so many students embrace these opportunities with curiosity, empathy, and respect. Their thoughtful participation showed what it truly means to be ALL IN as we continue our journey of learning, understanding, and reconciliation together.

Staff Professional Development - Wellbeing and Safeguarding

Last Friday, the Diocese of Sandhurst held a system wide Professional Development Day focussed on Student Wellbeing and Safeguarding. All staff spent the day engaged in professional learning focused on student wellbeing, positive education practices, the Victorian Child Safe Standards, behaviour support strategies, and curriculum development to further enhance teaching and learning outcomes for all students.

It was truly beneficial to have a whole day to break open, discuss, respond to and plan for such vital aspects of our professional practice.
