Prayer to the Sacred Heart

Lord, we come before your Sacred Heart

To ask you for protection,

and to comfort the fears and uncertainties

we may encounter.

Give us the courage to continue,

and let us recognise that you are with us guiding us,

protecting us and holding us in your arms.

Our hearts await everything from you.

You keep encouraging us to look for You.

We trust in you, Sacred Heart.

Amen

Today is the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, designated the Friday after the Second Sunday after Pentecost (Corpus Christi Sunday).

The Sacred Heart of Jesus is a powerful symbol in Christianity, particularly within the Catholic tradition, representing Jesus Christ's divine love and compassion for humanity. It symbolizes the core of Christ's message: love for God and love for one's neighbor. The heart, as the seat of love, embodies the boundless and passionate love of Jesus for all people.

"The Son of God. . . loved me and gave himself for me" (Gal 2:20).
