Middle Learning Community

We would like to congratulate all the students who showed great courage in taking the stage and presenting their speeches in the public speaking competition. They all did an outstanding job.
Next week, we are excited to welcome Essendon AFLW to our school on Thursday, 18 June from 9:30–10:15am. This session is designed specifically for girls in Years 4–6, with a focus on promoting women’s football. The visit will include a 30-minute Q&A session followed by a 15-minute “Kick 2 Kick” activity, where students will have the opportunity to enjoy kicking the football alongside AFLW players in the school yard. Students will also have the chance to collect player signatures on club merchandise, as well as receive a signed document that will be photocopied and shared with participants.
Year 4
In Literacy, we have completed the novel Uncle Xbox and finished writing a factual recount. Next week, students will begin our next text, The Arrival by Shaun Tan. This wordless novel tells the powerful story of an immigrant father who leaves his wife and daughter to seek a better life. Through striking illustrations, it captures both the pain of separation and hope for the future. Students will be creating their own narratives inspired by this text.
In Maths, we are focusing on addition and subtraction, using fact families and equivalent number sentences.
