Camp Recap

What an incredible few days we had at camp! Students showed amazing teamwork, resilience, and enthusiasm as they took on a range of challenges — from archery and the giant swing to bush cooking and beach activities. It was wonderful to see everyone step out of their comfort zones, support their peers, and create lasting memories together.

Reading

In Reading, students have been developing their evaluating skills by focusing on our class novel “The Apprentice’s Witnesser”. They have been exploring characters point of views, feelings and emotions through descriptive and figurative language.

Writing

Our current writing focus is on explanation texts. Students are learning how to clearly explain processes and ideas using structured paragraphs, topic sentences, and technical vocabulary. We’ve connected this learning to our Inquiry unit, using scientific topics such asweathering, erosion, and natural disasters to inspire our writing.

Numeracy

In Numeracy, we’ve been exploring probability and length, deepening our understanding of how to calculate and compare length and width in real-world contexts. Students are also applying their problem-solving skills and explaining their mathematical reasoning using key vocabulary. They have also been exploring the likelihoods of events happening in real life.

Inquiry

This term’s Inquiry unit, “Earth and Space,” has sparked lots of curiosity and discussion! Students have been investigating how weathering, erosion and deposition happened to sand. Students have been conducting experiments in class too! We’re looking forward to our upcoming Natural Disasters incursion, where students will explore the concepts Earth’s layers through hands-on activities.
