This term in Inquiry, students have been learning about change and how living things adapt to their environment. We explored what “change” means, looked at real-life examples, and noticed how the weather changes daily and seasonally. Students observed how plants, animals, and humans behave differently across the seasons.
We also discovered how change affects behaviour. For example, animals may hibernate or migrate, plants can grow or go dormant, and weather can influence how we live, dress, and travel.

As part of our learning, students researched an animal that hibernates, exploring its features, diet, and habitat. They then created either their animal or its home using clay, showing great creativity and understanding. To make their creations more realistic, we ventured into our school environment to collect natural materials such as rocks and sticks to support their models. Students also learnt important clay techniques, including how to score and join pieces, bringing their animals and habitats to life through thoughtful design and careful construction. Our Prep students showed great resilience and worked hard throughout this task, demonstrating persistence, creativity, and pride in their work. Well done!
