Around the College

Community Market
Thanks so much to everyone who visited our Community Market last Thursday. It was a spectacular event bringing our wonderful extended Bayside family together.
The VM stall net profits and stall fees enabled us to send $750 to Compassion. This equates to three and a half months of sponsorship for Aloi, Marvel and Brayen (Indonesia) and Magdala (Haiti). We are already looking forward to the extravaganza that will be the Christmas market on Thursday 26th November.
New Bayside display Aviary
Announcing the completion of the new Bayside display aviary in the gardens just outside the O block entrance (Northside Science labs) for students to enjoy and engage with.
This has been a long-standing project for a range of our VM and VET classes.
Thanks to Logan, Jack and Lachie in Year 11 who worked tirelessly on the finicky wiring aspect to complete the project.
Currently, there are 2 king quail and a family of cockatiels residing in the " Avian Langham", but different birds will be cycled through from a private collection at various times.
Even in the first week, some of the cockatiels have started nesting in the hollow log (2 eggs laid thus far), so hopefully they will raise some young ones this season.
Wellbeing Week - Week 9
What an incredible week we had across the College! It started with a sausage sizzle for every student in the College, hand-delivered to Primary classrooms and a long line of Secondary students lined up across our outdoor basketball courts eager for the sweet taste of a free BBQ.
Each day of the week presented another activity that aimed at promoting our social, physical and mental wellbeing. Tuesday saw board/cards games being played in M Block, lawn games and crafts on Wednesday, dancing queens and kings in front of Just Dance on Thursday and finished with two of our incredible Year 12 leaders, Annabelle and Annabel, blowing bubbles and pumping some positive tunes throughout the College for Primary students.
Tuesday was an amazing opportunity to speak into the lives of our Year 7 students during our resiliency day. A big thank you to Izzie, Chloe, Jayda, Aliya, Sienna, Mitch and Billy, who organised such an incredible day with activities and talks on self-care, respecting self and others, study habits and the importance of our faith. - Mr Samuel Green
Education Support Appreciation Week
In Week 8, we had the privilege of celebrating Education Support Appreciation Week! This is a special opportunity to recognise and thank the wonderful people who work alongside our students and teachers each day.
Our Education Support staff play an important role across the College. They support students with learning, organisation, regulation, communication and social development, they assist within classrooms, provide targeted intervention programs and work alongside teachers to help students access and engage in their learning.
Every day, our Education Support staff build meaningful relationships with students. They are often the encouraging voice beside a student when learning feels difficult, the familiar face that helps someone feel safe and settled, and the person celebrating the small steps of progress that can ultimately make a very big difference.
To celebrate the week, we gathered together for a special morning tea and surrounded our team with displays filled with words of encouragement and appreciation from across the College. We are very grateful for each and every member of our Education Support team here at Bayside.
Please collect bottle caps!
The Primary Art room is collecting bottle caps. We are particularly interested in bright colours that are harder to come by, like pink, orange, green, purple, gold, and silver, but would be grateful for any clean and dry bottle caps. There will be a tub under the G block stairs for you to deposit the caps into.
Whole School Worship Service
We were blessed to have James Cooper speak at our recent Whole School Worship Service. James graduated from Bayside Christian College several years ago, and he shared about the impact Jesus has had on his life, both during his time as a student and in the years since. James, together with his wife and family, is preparing to serve in Indonesia in full-time ministry. It was encouraging for our students to hear his story of faith, obedience, and commitment to the Lord. Our Year 1/2 TC students had also been practising their Auslan sign language and led us beautifully in singing and signing 'The Blessing'.
