NEW SPORT SIGN UP AREA

To all students – the sport sign up area has moved! The signup sheets will no longer be outside the sports office. Instead, the sheets will be placed on the new whiteboard that is located at the top of the link corridor as you head toward the S Wing from the Sports Office!

Term 3 round robin sports include: table tennis, hockey and basketball. Students are expected to sign up on the sheets prior to attending any trials. This helps our staff coaches identify how many trials are required and assists them to book spaces as required.

EMR FINALS

Australian Football

Year 7 Boys/Mixed

VSC played three games on the day, finishing with a win, two losses, and a strong overall improvement in form.

Game 1: VSC 0.0 lost to Lilydale 9.7

A tough game to start the day. Lilydale was very good. The boys tried hard all game but struggled to put much pressure on the Lilydale defenders. Caleb was reliable in defence, Owen ran well from halfback, and Ashton took some good marks while presenting well around the ground.

Game 2: VSC 0.4 lost to Norwood 9.3

A tough first half, but the team lifted significantly after the break. Harry chased hard in defence, the midfield began winning contests, Spence dominated hit-outs, Ashton applied strong tackling pressure, Jimmi took big intercept marks, Jett ran down opponents, and Jude saved three goals with desperate defensive efforts.

Game 3: VSC 5.3 defeated Wheelers Hill SC 4.2

A brilliant finish to the day! Ezekiel was awarded a free-kick and calmly went back to kick the team’s first goal after a slow start. After that, we were off! Owen added another off good centre clearance work. Ashton was excellent in the contest and kicked a classy goal. Jimmi booted a crucial goal to put VSC in front, and Jude continued his strong defensive form. Brodie was evasive and dangerous all over the ground. The team held their composure brilliantly to launch a late flurry of goals. Well done to all for sticking by each other and not getting involved in the opposition’s antics. A great day overall, with thanks to year 10 coaches Aiyden, Zane and Hunter. Finally - Tas, your leadership throughout the day was amazing, especially the pre-game pump up speeches!

Thanks to everyone!

Year 8 Boys/Mixed

The year 8s were severely understaffed with only 14 players being available. However, as coach, I could not be prouder of them. They won the final pool game and took a half off a powerful Norwood outfit.

Zac G, Ethan W and Miles H could not have got any more ounce of grit and skill out of themselves. They were simply massive and at times it was if they were all 2/3 people, as that was how much advantage they gave our team. The opponents looked like witches hats. An unbelievable effort.

Non footballers (hopefully they’ll join a team next year), Noa T, Cooper M and Harry E put their bodies on the line in defence, ran in straight lines and let nothing past. Outstanding.

Often competing against 2 or 3 James K, Sam H, Jed L and Joseph W stood up when we needed them. Well played.

Jasper P and Corey S helped stabilise our team in the last game and were big reasons for the win. Terry B did not allow any opponent to move around him and Mason DP was on the verge of a specky that would have surely resulted in a goal.

Well played Team- a credit to the college.

Goal scorers for the day
