Principal's Report
Vermont Secondary College
Thank you for your support of the College this term. Despite the context of increasing complexity around the project of education, and the impact of social issues on school and family life, our school continues to experience high levels of success.
As you may be aware, we continue to improve our approach to teaching and learning through the implementation of our VSC Instructional Model and the new Victorian Curriculum. As we direct significant resources towards improving in essence the ‘what’ and the ‘how’ of our teaching, we are experiencing considerable success. This was clearly evident as I moved around the school visiting classes over the last few weeks. Engagement levels are high and students seem genuinely excited by the opportunity to develop knowledge and capability in new areas with the beginning of semester two.
On Friday the 19th of June we held our VCE Senior Formal at the San Remo Ballroom. For our Senior Students, this was the premier social event on the calendar and did not disappoint. Students gathered, socialised, danced, and enjoyed the roving magician and fairy floss genuinely enjoying the company of their peers and the staff who attended.
Student behaviour was outstanding; venue staff noting that they had not previously hosted a school group who were as kind, respectful and polite. This is a testament to the culture at the school, but more notably, the values and expectations of the families within our community.
A reminder to the school community that on the last day of Term 2, Friday 26th of June, we have a 2:30pm finish. Term 3 begins on Monday the 13th of July.
As tax time is approaching, parents/guardians are reminded that donations to Vermont Secondary College’s Library Fund and Building Fund are Tax Deductible and the College welcomes donations of any size.
