Year 10 Technology Students Develop Engineering Skills Through Soldering

This semester, our Year 10 Technology students have been developing practical engineering skills by learning the art of soldering as part of their Engineering unit.

Soldering is a fundamental skill used in engineering, electronics, and manufacturing, requiring precision, patience, and attention to detail. Under the guidance of their teacher, students learned how to safely use soldering equipment, prepare electronic components, and create strong, reliable connections on circuit boards.

Through this hands-on experience, students gained an understanding of electrical circuits while building confidence in using industry-standard tools and techniques. They also developed valuable transferable skills such as problem-solving, perseverance, fine motor coordination, and quality control as they tested and refined their work.

The Engineering unit provides students with authentic, real-world learning experiences that mirror industry practices and introduce them to potential pathways in engineering, electronics, manufacturing, and STEM careers
