Edmund Rice Education Australia Young Leaders Gathering
Last week our College Captain, Francesco Mazza, travelled to Adelaide, staying at Rostrevor College, with the captains/leaders of EREA schools and flexible learning centres from around the country. The theme of the gathering was ‘The World Outside my Window’ in reference to how Edmund Rice saw the needs of his time outside his window.
Highlights of the few days included walking on Country with Kuarna elder Uncle Tamaru; an immersive experience of Dadirri (Deep Listening); and a powerful keynote from Madeleine K., author and educator who looks at creating connection and building hope. The group experienced video connections with young leaders in Edmund Rice schools in India and South Africa through the EREBB (Edmund Rice Education Beyond Borders) network; had deep reflections on personal values, leadership styles, and the EREA Touchstones; and celebrated a beautiful liturgy.
Facilitators of the event commented on the wisdom, energy and generosity of the young leaders present, saying it was life-giving, particularly in the way they honoured diverse voices and experiences.
No doubt Francesco will share more with us in due time. Congratulations to him on representing St Patrick’s College grace and dignity.
