YEAR 12

Term 3 has been a busy and rewarding term for everyone across the Senior School, with our Year 12 students reaching some significant milestones as they approach the end of their secondary schooling.

VCE-VM

Assessments are now coming to an end for our Year 12 VM students, with many students having already been, or currently being, signed off as they prepare to move into their future pathways and endeavours. We are incredibly proud of the commitment, effort and maturity our students have demonstrated throughout this term to eventually take on the real world.

Our Year 12 VM students have had many opportunities to showcase the skills and knowledge they have developed throughout the year, particularly through their Personal Development Skills (PDS) classes. Students have planned and delivered a range of projects and awareness campaigns, including activities focused on R U OK? Day, Do it for Dolly's, LW Memorial Soccer match, which they proudly presented to students and staff during Senior and Junior Lunches.

Another highlight this term was our Mock Interview Program, which provided students with the opportunity to experience a realistic job interview. Students were required to prepare for and participate in an interview with staff, respond to a range of questions, present themselves professionally and apply for a simulated position aligned with their future career and lifestyle goals. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to put their employability skills into practice and build confidence for life beyond school.

VCE

Our Year 12 VCE students are also entering an important stage of their schooling, with classes now finalising their remaining content and beginning their revision in preparation for the upcoming VCAA examinations, commencing Monday 27 October.

Students will have the opportunity to complete practice examinations during the two-week holiday period, providing valuable experience with the examination format and allowing them to further develop their exam preparation and time-management strategies.

We will also be running a number of additional workshops early next term to support students with their final preparation and provide further guidance as they approach their VCAA examinations.

Year 12 Celebration Week

While there is still plenty of important academic work to be completed, we are also looking forward to celebrating our Year 12 cohort and recognising everything they have achieved throughout their final year.

Early Term 4 will be filled with some of the more exciting and memorable Year 12 events. We are looking forward to welcoming our Year 12 VM students back to school to participate in our Year 12 Guard of Honour and Year 12 Breakfast, celebrating their return and the significant contribution they have made to our school community. Students will have the opportunity to let their hair down and enjoy a well-deserved day of fun at Gumbuya World. The celebrations will continue with our Year 12 Valedictory, where we will come together as a school community to celebrate the achievements, growth and journey of our graduating students.

It has been a remarkable year for our Year 12 cohort, and we look forward to celebrating these final milestones with them as they prepare to embark on the next chapter of their lives.

YEAR 11

Term 3 has included a range of important events and opportunities for our Year 11 students, from course counselling and Speak & Share to our highly anticipated Year 11 Formal.

Without a doubt, one of the highlights of the term was our Year 11 Formal. The evening provided students with the opportunity to dress up, celebrate their achievements and enjoy a memorable night with their friends.

Students enjoyed a delicious three-course meal before taking to the dance floor and making the most of the evening. There were also plenty of opportunities for students to get involved, with awards presented for Best Dressed, Most Hyped and Best Dance Moves, as well as the highly anticipated Formal King and Queen.

It was fantastic to see so many students embracing the evening, creating lasting memories and celebrating what has been a wonderful year for our Year 11 cohort.

Our Year 11 students have also begun preparing for their transition into Year 12. Students had the opportunity to try on different jacket sizes and place their orders for their Year 12 jackets, marking the beginning of their journey into their final year of secondary school.

The first round of orders is expected to arrive at the College during Term 4 Step Up. For students who have not yet placed an order, another ordering opportunity will be available in late December or early January.

Looking ahead to Term 4, our Year 11 VM students will begin an important part of their VM program. During Weeks 6 and 7, all Year 11 VM students will be expected to begin securing a suitable Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) placement.

This will provide students with a valuable opportunity to gain practical workplace experience, develop their employability skills and gain greater insight into potential career pathways beyond school.

We look forward to supporting our Year 11 students as they continue preparing for the transition into Year 12 and take on new opportunities and responsibilities throughout Term 4.
