Year 7 & 8 – Celebrating Another Successful Term 

It has been yet another successful and rewarding term for our Year 7 and Year 8 cohorts, with plenty to celebrate as we reflect on Term 3. 

Our Year 7 students now truly feel part of the College community. It is wonderful to see how much they have grown in confidence since the beginning of the year, building new friendships, developing positive learning habits and becoming familiar with the culture and expectations of secondary school. Before long, they will be preparing for their move into their future classes at the end of Semester 2. 

For our Year 8 students, another important transition is also approaching as they prepare to take the next step in their secondary school journey. 

One of the biggest highlights for our Junior College students this year has been the opportunity to connect through their daily Connect Group classes. These sessions have provided valuable opportunities for students to strengthen relationships, develop teamwork skills, understand our school culture and build a stronger sense of belonging. 

Our School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) program continues to have a positive impact. Students have embraced the opportunity to earn positive points by demonstrating our College values and expectations. It has been a particularly proud moment to see many of our Junior College students achieve their Silver Award through the accumulation of positive points. Congratulations to all students who have reached this milestone! 

There has also been plenty to celebrate beyond the classroom. Many Year 7 and Year 8 students were involved in our school production, The Little Mermaid, and it was fantastic to see our Junior College students confidently taking to the stage. Their involvement in 4C’s was equally impressive, with the number of students participating on stage continuing to grow each year. 

Academic progress has been another significant highlight. More than 85% of students across both Year 7 and Year 8 achieved a GPA above 2.5, reflecting the consistent effort of our students and the support provided by their teachers and families. 

The winter months have presented some challenges with attendance for a number of students. As we move into Term 4 and hopefully enjoy some warmer weather, we encourage all students to return refreshed and ready to attend school regularly. Every day at school provides another opportunity to learn, connect and succeed. 

Student enthusiasm and participation in Term 3 sport has also been wonderful to see. Looking ahead, Water Safety activities will be taking place during Term 4, so families are encouraged to keep an eye on Compass for further information and important dates. 

Our Celebration Assembly remains one of the biggest highlights at the end of each term. This term, our leaders struggled to fit all the presentations into one period because there were so many students receiving awards across a range of categories! What a wonderful problem to have and a fantastic reflection of the achievements of our Junior College students. 

Finally, we finished Term 3 with a well-deserved pizza lunch. As students enjoyed the celebration together, there may even have been a few thinking, “I wish I had been here every day!” — a great reminder that regular attendance brings not only learning opportunities, but also the chance to be part of all the wonderful experiences our College has to offer.
