Alternate Programs

Dan Garner - Assistant Principal Alternate Programs

Thank you everyone for a great term one!

As we prepare for Term 2, we also embrace a change in seasons and recognize that some students may face increased challenges in attending school. If your child is experiencing difficulties in getting to school, please don't hesitate to contact our staff to discuss potential solutions.

ABSENCES

Regarding absences, if your child is unable to attend school for any reason, kindly inform their teacher. This allows us to maintain accurate attendance records and ensure that any missed days do not hinder your child's academic progress.

TRANSITIONS

Transition periods are underway for some students as they embark on new educational programs tailored to their individual journeys. Should any concerns or issues arise during this transition, we encourage you to communicate them with the relevant personnel. If you believe a different program would better suit your child's needs, please reach out to us.

Should you encounter any challenges related to your child's education, please don't hesitate to seek support. We are committed to assisting you and your child in any way possible.

As we move towards the school holidays, we ask that you look after yourself, your children and reach out for any support you need. While schools are closed and the support they offer is unavailable, Horsham has a range of services to assist you through many situations.  Please take the time to reach out to them if needed.

Staff at Alternate Programs have worked tirelessly this term to do anything they can for your students’ needs and I thank them whole heartedly.

Thanks for your ongoing support,

Dan Garner

Senior

What a busy term!

Naplan, PAT, career action plans and VPC!

Senior students have been doing well to keep up and continue attending class...Well done!

We now have 8 students in senior 1 group who have also combined this work load with part-time employment outside of school hours. This is a great achievement and hopefully some of these jobs develop into ongoing pathways for these students.

Have a refreshing break, stay healthy and we will do it all again next term.

Orange

Over the last couple of weeks Orange group has been going to JRS workshop where they have been completing lino carvings. The students then use them to print onto different fabric types. The students have enjoyed doing this activity.

McKenzie Creek

Thank you to our students and families for a fantastic first term!

The efforts we are seeing from our students, in terms of living the college values and having a go, have been truly wonderful. We have seen significant improvements in both academic and social abilities, in particular, a real growth in students' persistence and resilience.

Other recent highlights include the delicious meals students are cooking in Home Economics, the creative forts being built at McKenzie Creek, and photography scavenger hunts as part of their media program.

To wrap up the term, students enjoyed a stamp market this week, where they were able to purchase prizes and treats from Conways as a reward for all their hard work.

Parent-teacher interviews are scheduled for the first Thursday back in Term 2, the 23rd of April. We will reach out at the beginning of the term to organise a time. If you would like to organise in advance, please don't hesitate to message Ebony or book online.

We hope you all have a fun and safe holiday break!
