Special congratulations must go to Jazz Hopper, Minha Rahman, Lewis Walker, Dom Walter and Sarah Gellatly who earned 20 or more values awards each.
Students with outstanding attendance and Interim Report BPA scores will be acknowledged at a celebration lunch early in term 2. Keep your eyes on your SEQTA DM’s for your invite!
Sports Stars
Year 9 students are not limited to outstanding performance in the classroom. We send our congratulations to Ryder Thomas who has been selected for SSV Victoria U15 boys State Netball Team. Ryder will represent Victoria at the upcoming School Sport Australia carnival, to be held in Parkville from July 26 to August 1.
We also congratulate Hylton Penfold on his qualification for the state swimming championships in Melbourne on April 23. Hylton competed in the Greater Western Region championships on 25th March, and achieved 1st in 50m breaststroke, 3rd in 50m butterfly, 4th in 50m backstroke, 4th in 100m freestyle and 5th in 50m freestyle.
The Year 9 team wishes Ryder and Hylton all the best in their upcoming competition.
VET Taster Days
This term Year 9 students have had the opportunity to tray out what’s on offer at VET Fed Uni. Many curses were available for students to come and try, however Healthcare and Building & Engineering were the most popular.
Steph M got some practice at CPR on the Healthcare taster day, while Cooper I and Ollie W got their hands dirty trying out Building and Engineering.
Wimmera Machinery Field Days
Year 9 students seized opportunities outside the classroom at the Wimmera Machinery Field days held between 3-5 March. During their textiles classes, students created sustainable clothing items, and staged a sustainable fashion parade. From recycled bed sheets to old jeans turned into bags, students showcased their creativity, design and production skills. Well done to all students who participated in the fashion parade, and thank to to seamstress extraordinaire Tina Fitzgerald for preparing our students to shine on the runway!
We were also impressed at the talent of Arky Hopper, who delighted the crowd with his singing performance!
We wish all students and families a restful holiday break, and we will see you all back on deck on April 20 for Term 2.
Year 9 Digital Technology - 3D Printing
The Year 9 students have had an outstanding experience exploring the world of 3D design and printing for past 3 weeks, showcasing both creativity and problem-solving skills. Using Onshape, students designed and developed their own digital solutions, including personalised key tags and a range of unique, self-directed creations. Throughout the project, they demonstrated impressive growth in their ability to think critically, design with purpose, and bring ideas to life through 3D printing.
Importantly, the skills developed through this experience extend far beyond the classroom. Learning to use industry-relevant tools like Onshape helps students build valuable skills in design thinking, problem-solving, and digital literacy, which are essential for future studies and careers in fields such as engineering, architecture, and product design. These capabilities also support success across other school subjects, as students learn to plan, create, and refine their ideas. Overall, this has been a highly successful learning experience, equipping students with practical skills that will benefit them in their academic journeys and future professional lives.
