Work Experience

Semester 1 Work Experience

Horsham College has had a fantastic start to the year, with over 80 students actively preparing for their upcoming work experience placements this semester.

Throughout Term 1, students have been building their readiness for the workplace in Careers classes by developing resumes and cover letters, completing their Safe@Work modules, and reaching out to local employers.

We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support of our local business community, who continue to partner with us to provide valuable opportunities for our students. Their willingness to mentor and guide young people plays a vital role in helping students explore a wide range of career pathways.

Work experience offers significant benefits for our students. It provides the opportunity to gain hands-on industry skills, build professional networks, and develop a deeper understanding of workplace expectations. These experiences help students to clarify their career goals, grow in confidence, and prepare for future employment.

Melbourne Work Experience Trip

Looking ahead to Term 2, we will be seeking expressions of interest from students interested in applying for the Melbourne Work Experience Trip in September. This exciting opportunity is designed for students pursuing professional placements that are not readily available in Horsham. Our regular host organisations include the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute and Ashurst, with additional placement options also available.

Students who are interested are encouraged to contact Genni Smith, Work Experience Coordinator, for more information.

Semester 2 Work Experience

Around half of our Year 10 cohort will also be undertaking their work experience in Semester 2, ensuring all Year 10 students have the opportunity to participate.

We look forward to seeing our students thrive in their placements next term and thank our community for their continued support.
