Acting Principal's Message

As I reflect on the past two weeks, I am incredibly proud of just how much has been happening across our school. From sport and leadership to faith, transition, community events and plenty of fun, our students have been provided with such a wonderful and diverse range of opportunities to learn, participate, connect and celebrate.

Over the past fortnight, we have enjoyed our Athletics Day, complete with a very popular Sausage Sizzle, celebrated the joy of reading through our colourful Book Week Dress-Up Day, and watched our Father’s Day Stall completely sell out thanks to the wonderful support of our community.

Our faith life has also remained at the heart of who we are, with the commissioning of our FIRE Carriers on Thursday 3rd September marking a significant occasion for our school community and strengthening our commitment to faith, reconciliation and action.

Our Year 5 students visited St. Mary of the Angels for their Transition Day, taking another important step in preparing for the journey to secondary school, while our Year 6 students participated in the ASPIRE Leadership Incursion, continuing to develop their confidence, leadership skills and understanding of the responsibility that comes with being leaders of our school.

At the other end of the school, it has been wonderful to welcome local kindergarten groups into our Foundation classrooms, giving our future Joeys an opportunity to experience school life and begin building familiarity and confidence ahead of their own transition to school.

There was certainly plenty of excitement in Foundation as we celebrated Maggie Mouse’s Birthday Surprise! After learning all of their letters, our youngest students marked this wonderful learning milestone with costumes, activities, party food, music and plenty of fun.

Our School Captains’ Steamed Dim Sim Sale was quite literally a steaming success, with an incredible 13.5kg of dim sims served! It was another fantastic example of student leadership in action and the wonderful way our community gets behind our students and their ideas.

Meanwhile, our Year 5 and Year 6 students have continued their Winter Sports competition, competing each week against Cobram Primary School and Cobram Anglican Grammar School across a range of sports. These opportunities extend far beyond winning and losing, allowing our students to practise teamwork, sportsmanship, resilience and representing St. Joseph’s with pride.

When all of these experiences are placed alongside the learning happening in our classrooms every single day, it really does highlight just how much is offered to our students.

I am incredibly proud to work within a school community that works so hard to provide such a dynamic, broad and engaging range of opportunities for our students to experience. These events do not simply happen. They are made possible through the generosity, creativity and commitment of our staff, students, families, volunteers and wider community.

Thank you to everyone who continues to contribute their time, energy and enthusiasm to making St. Joseph’s such a vibrant place to learn and belong.

There is certainly never a dull moment at St. Joes, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
