120 days BRIGHTER!

Last week, our Year 1 students celebrated reaching 120 days of school! We marked the special occasion with our theme, 120 Days Brighter, celebrating how much we have learnt, grown and achieved together. It was wonderful to see everyone dressed in bright colours and ready to celebrate this exciting milestone. What a fantastic 120 days it has been!

Bullying No Way! week

Last week was Bully No Way! week. In Year 1, we participated in a Kids Helpline session all about how upstanders are like superheroes! Students learnt that we can all make a difference by standing up for ourselves and others.

We explored some important steps that an upstander can take:

Pause – Identify your feelings.
Choose Kindness – Think about how you can be kind and supportive towards others.
Act – Tell someone to stop, walk away, or tell a trusted teacher.

Our students enjoyed learning how their words and actions can help create a safe, kind and inclusive classroom where everyone feels valued.

Students also got to participate in activities throughout the week. One of these activities was using chalk to write messages of kindness.

Book Week

We have had a wonderful time celebrating Book Week! To coincide with Book Week, we started our Reader of the Day. It has been fantastic seeing the variety of books our students have enjoyed sharing with the class. We have been so impressed by the way students are reading with clear voices, confidence and expression.

We also had a wonderful time visiting our Foundation students to present our Reader’s Theatre performance of Wombat Stew! The students did a fantastic job bringing the story to life and sharing their performance with the younger students.

On Friday, we dressed up as our favourite book characters and enjoyed a fantastic Book Week parade. We also wrote about our favourite books and tried to convince our friends why they should read them. It was wonderful to see so many students excited to share their favourite stories and celebrate their love of reading!
