From the Assistant Principal

What a busy Term!
Thank you to all our students, families and staff for their efforts during this very busy Term 3. As we head towards the break...
ICAS 2026
A standing ovation to our wonderful Year 4, 5 and 6 students who proudly represented our school online in the 2026 ICAS English and Mathematics competitions! Not only did they embrace the challenge with enthusiasm and determination, but they also conducted themselves with impeccable focus and maturity throughout the testing sessions.
We are incredibly proud of the way our students approached this opportunity, demonstrating both academic courage and exemplary behaviour.
Congratulations to all participants. Bravo!
Student Welfare Counselling Program Returns
We are delighted to announce that our Student Welfare Counselling Program recommenced in Week 8, and we are thrilled to welcome our new counsellor, Genevieve, to our school community.
This valuable program provides students with additional wellbeing support in a safe, caring and confidential environment. As places are limited, referrals will be prioritised based on student need.
Please note that parent/carer consent is required for participation in the program. If you believe your child may benefit from counselling support, please speak with your class teacher, who can assist with the referral process.
We look forward to working alongside Genevieve as we continue to support the wellbeing and success of every student.
Parking and safety around the school
Polite reminder that we do not allow cars onto the front car park between 8:15am and 9:15am to ensure safe pedestrian entry to the school for our students and their families. Please also be mindful of the pick-up and drop-off points locally and also remind students to cross the road safely and at the appropriately designated points.
Attendance Matters - Every Day Counts!
As winter continues to sprinkle its seasonal surprises, we know that coughs, colds and the occasional sniffle can make an appearance. While we always encourage families to keep unwell children at home to rest and recover, we also celebrate the power of regular school attendance whenever students are healthy and ready to learn.
At Cheltenham Primary School, every school day is packed with opportunities to learn, connect and grow. Consistent attendance helps students build strong friendships, develop confidence, establish positive routines and fully engage in the rich learning experiences taking place in every classroom.
Where possible, we kindly ask families to schedule holidays, medical appointments and dental visits outside of school hours to minimise interruptions to learning.
If your child is feeling worried about friendships, schoolwork or attending school, please know that support is available. Coming to school regularly helps children stay connected and access the care and guidance they need. If attendance is becoming a challenge, please reach out to your child's classroom teacher or contact me directly. Together, we can ensure every child feels supported, successful and ready to shine.
If your student/s must miss school, please notify us as soon as possible by calling main reception or adding an attendance notification to Compass.
