Our Amazing Start in 1/2C

It has been an amazing start to the year and fantastic term for 1/2C. We have been busy learning many new things and making new friends. Here are some of our favourite moments.
We started the year by meeting our new classmates and getting to know one another. We learnt that we are all special and unique, and that we can learn so much from each other.
We also had a visit from St John Ambulance, who taught us about emergencies, the DRS steps (Danger, Response, Send for Help), and what we can do to help in these situations.
Getting to know and spending time with our buddies has been really exciting. We have shared lunch together, played outdoor games, and enjoyed being creative together.
Harmony Day was a highlight. We learnt about each other’s cultures and backgrounds, shared stories around the campfire, and made Vietnamese hats. Although we all come from different backgrounds, we create a special and welcoming community in 1/2C and SJV.
During Literacy, we learnt about healthy living. We explored the different food groups and the importance of a balanced diet, as well as other ways we can stay healthy, such as drinking plenty of water and exercising regularly. We then created our own healthy eating plates to show what a healthy meal looks like.
In Maths, we have enjoyed hands-on activities while learning about place value, addition and subtraction. We used MAB blocks, ten frames and number lines to help us understand numbers and solve problems. We also played games to practise our number facts.
1/2C wish you all a very Happy Easter!
