STAGE 5

English  

Year 9 English students are currently working on assessment tasks that focus on developing strong writing and analytical skills. Year 9 students are preparing a writing portfolio that showcases their ability to craft different types of imaginative, persuasive and discursive pieces.

 

Year 10 students are working on a critical essay exploring the concept of journeys, analysing how texts represent physical, emotional, and metaphorical journeys. These tasks encourage students to think deeply about texts and to express their ideas with clarity and confidence.  

 

Year 10 Food Technology  

Stage 5 Food Technology students have been investigating the food service and catering industry, exploring the relationship between food, technology, and society. A key focus has been understanding the contributions and knowledge of local Aboriginal Peoples, particularly in relation to traditional ingredients and sustainable food practices. Students have created a range of recipes featuring bush foods such as lemon myrtle, applying their learning in practical and meaningful ways. They have now begun developing concepts for their own food trucks as part of their upcoming assessment, where they will bring their ideas to life by producing original recipes and showcasing their creativity. 

 

Science is getting electric for Year 9

Year 9 students have been developing their understanding of electricity by constructing and testing electrical circuits. Through practical experimentation with power supplies, switches and loads, students explored how electrical energy flows and how circuits can be designed to control it.

To celebrate the energetic start to the year, Mr Evans even composed a short poem:

Beakers bubble, circuits glow,
Marbles race and dragsters go,
Colours warm beneath the sun,
Science class is never dull or done.
 
Bunsen flames begin to roar,
Questions lead to learning more,
From cells to cars and sparks of light,
Our scientists are off to flight!
