Black Ranges Cross Country

On Thursday the 8th of May 35 students travelled to Murtoa to participate in the black range cross country. All age groups participated in different running distances ranging from 3km to 5km. With a great representation of students in all age groups the Horsham College students display fantastic commitment and behaviour all day

We were lucky enough to have some fantastic results with several runners finishing in the top three in their age groups. We were even lucky enough to witness some amazing efforts with Jett Hill, Aiden Reinheimer and Henry Overman finishing first in their age groups with some amazing times.

Several of our students have now earned the right to move to the Greater Western Region Cross Country event held on the 26th of May in Warrnambool.

Well done and good luck to our students who have made the next level.

Black Ranges Junior Girls Football

On Monday the 5th of May our junior girls competed in the Black Ranges Junior football tournament. A couple of late team withdrawals left our girls with one game against Lutheran.

On what was a very windy day, the girls started slowly showing plenty of nerves as a high majority had never played before. They managed to score the first goal and point of the day kicking with a very strong breeze.

It was Lutheran who took the next quarter, kicking their first goal early in the term, The Horsham College girls battled hard into the wind but couldn’t register a score.

In the third quarter the girls were given great direction and encouragement from Mr Price, to take the game on and run hard with the ball. The girls took this advice on board and changed the game, kicking 2 goals 3 points for the quarter whist also keeping Lutheran scoreless.

With renewed confidence and enjoyment of every facet of the game, they ran hard in that last quarter, kicking a goal into the wind to seal a much-deserved win 29-6. All girls had a fantastic day and showed great spirit for the whole game.

The girls now progress to GWR competition in Hamilton on June 12th  - Good luck girls!
