Work Experience – Aden J.

This week we welcomed Aden, a Year 10 student, to the HC Library for his work experience. Aden has been a massive help in the library, and thanks to his efforts, we managed to tick off a few projects we’ve been wanting to complete for a while.

What did Aden do during work experience at HC Library?

Aden helped with library loans, book and laptop returns, shelving, and setting up displays. He also assisted with reorganising some sections of the library and provided a fresh perspective on our student experience.

What did Aden like about the library?

Aden said he enjoyed the quiet, calm, and welcoming environment, and particularly liked seeing how the library supports students in more ways than just books.

What were some of the challenges Aden faced?Aden found it tricky at first to locate specific books using our cataloguing system, but he quickly learned and adapted like a pro!

Creeker’s Library visit

This week, our Creekers had a fantastic time in the library! They challenged each other with games, built creative structures with magnetic tiles and construction sets, and some enjoyed some quiet time reading in their favourite cozy spots.

Coming Soon – Genre Labels!

Every week, students ask us:“Do you have any horror books?”“Where can I find romance novels?”“I’m looking for war stories—do we have any?”

The answer is YES, but we know it’s not always easy to find them just by browsing the shelves.

That’s why we’re introducing... Genre Labels!HC Library is taking on the big task of adding genre labels to almost every fiction book in the library. Once finished, you’ll be able to see at a glance if a book falls under genres like:

🪂 Adventure | 🐾 Animals |  Australian | 🕵️‍♀️ Crime |  Dystopian | 🐉Fantasy | 🏰 Historical | 😄 Humorous | 🔎 Mystery | ❤️ Romance | 🚀 Sci-fi | 🕵️‍♂️ Thriller |

 War

This project will take a few months to complete—but we hope it makes it much easier to discover your next great read!
