What's on In LOTE

In Term 4, our junior students will explore the four seasons and different types of weather in Chinese. They will build their vocabulary by learning the Chinese words for spring, summer, autumn and winter, as well as a range of weather-related expressions. Students will practise accurate pronunciation using Pinyin and strengthen their listening and speaking skills through engaging songs, interactive games and hands-on classroom activities. These experiences will help students develop their confidence in recognising, understanding and using familiar Chinese vocabulary in everyday contexts.
Our senior students will focus on developing their conversational Chinese skills by learning and practising basic greetings and introductions. They will explore useful phrases such as “Hello,” “How are you?”, “What is your name?” and “My name is…”. Through paired conversations and role-play activities, students will have opportunities to apply their learning in realistic situations, practise pronunciation and tones, and build confidence in communicating with their peers in Chinese.
In preparation for the festive season, students across the year levels will also learn and sing We Wish You a Merry Christmas in Chinese. This engaging musical activity will allow students to practise their pronunciation and listening skills while exploring how Christmas greetings are expressed in Chinese. It will also provide a fun and meaningful opportunity to celebrate the festive season through language, music and cultural learning.
