Attendance Update

Dear Families,

It is important parents/guardians notify the College of any student absences at their earliest convenience via Compass attendance note, email or phone.

If you receive a Compass notification or an email regarding an 'unexplained absence' it means the College has not been given a reason for your child being absent from school for one period or more.

It is a Department of Education requirement that the College receives a reason for every day/period that a student is absent.

We ask that parents/guardians routinely check their Compass for any unexplained absences and add an attendance note (please note, you can find all unexplained absences for a student in Compass under the unexplained attendance tab).

If you have any concerns regarding a student’s attendance, please email absences@gisbornesc.vic.gov.au.

If a student is late to school at any time after 8:55am, they are required to sign in at the relevant sub school office. A reminder that students need to have a note from their parent/guardian for their lateness (this can be added as a Compass attendance note if unable to give a written note to the student).

If a student needs to leave school any time before 3:16pm, a parent/guardian needs to sign the student out in person at the front office. If this is not possible, written permission needs to be given to the College (via Compass attendance note or email gisborne.sc@education.vic.gov.au) before the student can be signed out. Students should not leave the school grounds without signing out.

Yours sincerely,

Attendance Officer.
