🍴 Stirring Up Joy in the Kitchen: Our Family Kitchen Workshop (Dumplings Edition) 🥟
Last week, our school was filled with the delightful aromas of sizzling pans, fresh ingredients, and shared laughter as families came together for our very first Family Kitchen Workshop. Held in our Food Technology kitchen over two evenings, this heartwarming event invited parents, carers, and students to roll up their sleeves and learn to make dumplings from scratch—together.
The focus of the evening was on family and school connectedness, while celebrating quick, affordable, and joyful recipes that can easily be recreated at home with everyone involved. Families learned essential kitchen skills while reflecting on the importance of home cooking—not just for nourishment, but for bonding and building life skills. A special emphasis was placed on creating meals from scratch as a fun and affordable alternative to takeaway.
Feedback from families was overwhelmingly positive:
🗣️ “I’m so happy we came to this!”
🗣️ “It was a great opportunity for her and I to work together, for me to see her school environment, and for her to learn some cooking without me being distracted by other things at home.”
🗣️ “Everything was so well organised. I absolutely learned a new skill and we’re really looking forward to making more dumplings at home now that we know how!”
This workshop wasn’t just about food—it was about connection, confidence, and creating memories that will last far beyond the kitchen bench.
We’re proud to say this won’t be the last! Below is the flyer for our Term 3 Workshop - expressions of interest are now open. More delicious fun is just around the corner!
