Presentation Ball

Over two nights, a large portion of our Year 11 cohort participated in the annual Presentation Ball at Melrose Receptions - the culmination of months of planning, dance lessons and rehearsals.  Below are student accounts and photos of the evenings.

On Friday the 23rd of March, a group of the year 11's participated in the Presentation Ball at Melrose Receptions. I would like to thank Megan Penn for organising the night for us, and thank you to Andrew and Gayle for teaching us and giving us the opportunity to learn all the dances. All the girls got to experience getting their hair and makeup done and enjoy travelling to the Deb with their partners. We all got photos done and did many practices on the night. At 7 the guests arrived and we got presented, performed the dances and ate dinner. Overall the night was so amazing and was so much fun we would highly recommend the presentation ball to anyone who gets the chance to do it.

Leading up to the night we spent 15 hours hearing “1..2..3”. And I will never be able to listen to Die with a smile without hearing our dance teachers, Andrew and Gale, correcting us. The night went by in a flurry of laughs, nerves and twirling our dresses to look like pretty princesses. I loved the night especially when I slipped on my dress during heel and toe and almost did the splits. The night was one of the best I experienced, getting everyone to sign my shoes was a highlight (thanks mum for the idea!). Thank you to everyone who made the night happen and made it so special for us.

The whole time practicing the dances I spent picturing the dresses flowing around while spinning, when the day came and we were in our dresses I became obsessed with them flowing around. Everyone looked absolutely gorgeous in their dresses. Sharing the limo with friends and blasting music so loud we can’t hear each other is something I will never forget. Dancing with everyone at the end of the night to Cha Cha slide and nutbush, screaming lyrics at the top of our lungs, creating a big circle for people to run in to do random dances, and dancing with teachers topped off the night of an amazing day.
