Year 7 update

Term 2 Update

Year 7’s are continuing to be the shining light of the school in so many ways! We are still receiving the most merits of any year level by a considerable way. Its really great that teachers are able to acknowledge the great work and efforts that our students are putting in! Our peer support program with the Yr 12 VM students has continued with the last session to be completed on the 5th June. This has been a great opportunity for both the Yr 12 students to gain valuable skills supporting Yr 7 students, but also terrific connections for our Yr 7’s seeing the Yr 12’s in action!

We have had a number of students working diligently as part of the Victorian High Abilities Program (VHAP) and we look forward to hearing of their progress and successes! Our production team members are still committing their time to helping be a part of another successful GSC production, and we are excited for them as the Term 3 performance date get closer and closer!

We have had a number of sporting teams starting to go out and represent the school. The Yr 7 Boys football have won through to the next level after convincingly winning our local competition against Sunbury College, Sunbury Downs and Bacchus March College. The boys had a really great day and dominated their games through terrific teamwork and determination. Thanks to the parents who attended to support on the day and also to Katrina for your support as the parent helper!

We had a number of Yr 7 girls play in the Junior Girls (Yr 7&8) Football Team, again the girls had a great tournament but were unfortunately beaten in the final. A great effort girls.

On Thursday 29th of May we had the whole school athletics carnival in Melton and it was terrific to see so many Year 7 students participating and getting into the House spirit, it was a really terrific day with some outstanding performances by our Yr 7 students 😊

With winter officially starting it also seems some long overdue rain has arrived. Could families please ensure that students are in the correct school uniform to continue our outstanding start to the year with uniform. A reminder that ‘Hoodies’ are not part of our uniform and are NOT permitted to be worn at any time, including underneath official school uniform.  If your child feels the cold there are a range of options available at our uniform shop (Beleza) in Gisborne.  If you're facing financial difficulties in securing uniform items, please don't hesitate to contact the school for a confidential chat about ways in which we can support you.
