Track & Field Age Champions

Last week we held our final sport carnival for the year - Track and Field. It was a fantastic day, and it was great to see so many students getting involved. We would like to congratulate the following Age Champions for 2026.  

Congratulations to Freeman for taking out the House champion.

Carnival results are displayed on the outside HPE noticeboard for students to peruse.

As a school, we also finished the carnival with the much-anticipated Gap Gift. Grouping all of our 100m sprinters from each age group to a final showdown. This year in a tight field Issak J was awarded the 2026 Gap Gift winner. Great work to all of our year level representatives!! 

District Track and Field

We have a large team competing at the District Track and Field to be held at the St. Joseph's College, Nudgee this Thursday 6th and Friday 7th August.  We look forward to celebrating these results once they are distributed. 

Mountain Biking

The mountain biking team will compete at the School Mountain Biking event on 14th August.  They will be heading to the Trailhead at Blackstone, Ipswich for the final race of the year. Tracks have been designed to test a variety of skills, including endurance, speed, and technical ability.  Best of luck!

Transport to the excursion will be via Minibus.  Meet at the car park adjacent to outdoor courts (above oval) at 6:45am. The departure is at 7am and returns at 3:30pm.

Touch Football

We have three touch football teams attending the school's competition at Sommerfields, Rocklea from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd August. They are finalising their preparation and are looking forward to putting their skills to the test. Students and coaches have been very committed to their preparation all year! Best of luck from the school community for a great tournament. We know it is of a very high standard competition. 

Year 9 Gala Day 

The Year 9 Gala Day is being held on Tuesday 11th August at the South Pine Sporting Complex with over 100 students participating in five different sports.  We have over 100 year 9 students signed up for the term 3 event.

Students who have signed up are to meet at 8:35am in the grassed area out the front of A Block with a return to school at 2:30pm.

What do I need to prepare for the day of fun?

• Bring your lunch and a water bottle
• Bring your hat!
• Please bring long socks and shin pads if you choose 7 a side football

If you have any questions, please come and have a chat to the HPE staff in the sports hall. Year 9 students who did not sign up, it is a regular school day with your regular subject teachers. 

Congratulations Isabelle C and Abigail C - Year 7

Last week, two of our year 7 students - Isabelle C and Abigail C - represented Met North at the hockey state championships. 

The girls played well across the four days of competition. Isabelle a strong defender and Abigail attacking at the front. 

Well done girls! 

West District Sport Nomination Process

• Discuss suitability with HPE staff in the Sports Hall staffroom
• Complete the online nomination form via the QR code provided
• Once nominations close, West District will forward trial documentation. Completed forms must be returned via email to Mr Moran or Mr Hottes
