BLACKWOOD

HEY HEY HEY BLACKWOOD!

We hope your term has been super fun and memorable!! GOOD JOB ON MAKING IT HALFWAY THROUGH THE YEAR 💙 We wanted to thank you this term for all of your dedication and support on making it super duper successful for Blackwood! Here’s a few highlights:

  • Starting off with one of our biggest accomplishments this term - a massive CONGRATULATIONS! to our dancers (Annelise, An, Krishna, Hansika) for coming 2nd in House Dance! It was a really close competition, and all of the practice and time you guys put into it (especially the constant recess rehearsals in the T-wing) truly paid off. It was amazing to see the final piece come together!! Blackwood is so proud of you!

Also a BIG THANK YOU to Blackwood for coming and cheering them on; the energy was amazing!

  • Moving onto a recent victory…GOOD JOB BLACKWOOD!!! WE GOT FIRST PLACE!!! 🥇🥇 Your efforts in the Push Up Challenge did not go unnoticed BECAUSE WE ABSOLUTELY SMASHED IT!! It is so great to see everyone get involved, and we are so proud to see everyone come and cheer our push-up-ers compete and bring the title home for Blackwood 💙

  • Even though the results for our Chorals competition were not quite in our favour this year, thank you to everyone who gave it their all!! While the many rehearsals might not have been everyone’s cup of tea, we really appreciate you all for putting in the effort during practices, and especially singing your hearts out on the day - the enthusiasm and spirit our mass singing showed was unmatched!!

  • Thank you to Angelina (our wonderful Chorals Captain) for all your hard work in organising all of our ensembles and mass singing! We know it’s a tough job, but we could not have done it without you. 💙And to our performers in Rock Band, Mass Band, Small Choir, and Instrumental Band, thank you for the dedication you had in rehearsals and putting on a spectacular show! As people who have also been deeply involved in Chorals, we know how much time and effort it takes to actually commit to participating in an ensemble. We loved seeing you guys shine on stage and show the results of your hard work to the rest of the school.

  • We hope this Chorals has been fun for you all!!

As you can see, it has been a BIG term BUT there’s more to come in term 3! We could not have done it without you. The House Cup is still close, so make sure you keep an eye out for events (like House Chess and House Drama) because we need ALL the points we can get. Rest up these holidays and keep the momentum for all of our next house events because Blackwood WILL be bringing the house cup home again!!!!

KNIGHT TO KNIGHT,

⚔️💙Meagan, Michaelangelo and your Year 11 Vice Captain, An 💙⚔️

ROTHWELL

HEYY YOU ROTHWELL!!!

We’ve arrived at the end of Term 2!! (whew) We hope everyone’s been doing well and hopefully not too burnt out yet, but we’re about to go into our well deserved mid-year holidays! This term has been super successful for us and there’s been so many magnificent moments, so here’s a little overview of what went down!

Let’s start with the biggest win this term: HOUSE DANCE!!! WOOHOOO!! 🥇🥇 It was such an exhilarating performance from our incredible Rothwell Dancers Callianne, Gavin, Arlo, Wendy, Amelia, Keira & Melissa!! The amount of time spent practicing and rehearsing really shone through in your performance and we’re all so proud of you!!

Let’s rewind back to May 22nd, to the day of Chorals, WHERE WE TOOK HOME SECOND PLACE!!! It was such a nail-biting finish but ultimately it was the culmination of hard work from our amazing Rothwell musicians and the passionate singing from all you Rothwellians!! A special thank you to our Chorals Captain Arlo for whom without none of this would have been possible!

Many of you may have noticed a big colourful change to the Rothwell area and that is our beautiful and fabulous mural! A big shout out to our lovely mural team: Rhian, Emilia, Chengtao, Samantha and Yutong who planned, designed and painted the wall with the help of Carla - it couldn’t have turned out better! The mural reflects the creativity, spirit and pride of the Rothwell community, and we couldn't be happier with how it has come to life. We would like to extend a huge thank you to Mr Touissant, Ms Kinnane and Carla for making this project possible. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to create this mural and for the guidance, encouragement and support they provided.

This has been such an amazing term for us Rothwell and it wouldn't have been possible without the enthusiasm, participation and support of each and every one of you. Thank you all for making Rothwell, Rothwell. Let's keep this momentum going as we head into our upcoming events, House Drama and House Chess! We know all you Rothwellians have what it takes, so get involved and give it your best! We’ve got this. Have a lovely, well earned break!

Your House Caps,

Yashi and Arya

APOLLO

HEY Apolloooo!!!!! It’s now more than half way through the year.. GOOD JOB!!! We should all take this upcoming holiday as a moment to breathe, relax, and rewind. But…

Before we do that, WE NEED TO CELEBRATE!

First off, a big THANK YOU to everyone who showed up to the House Push Up Challenge on June 17th, we were so proud to see so many come to represent the House and see just as many come and cheer us all on, these efforts paid off because after what felt like hours of push ups (it was 20 minutes at max), we pulled through with a second place! We were so glad to see everyone giving their all for the house and are so proud of their hard work, thank you all again!

Moving a bit further back, we had the House Dance competition, which saw our House’s talented team of dancers give it their best and absolutely kill it on the stage! Even though we came fourth, everyone could see just how hard our team worked for the event, so we’d like to give a big thank you to them.

But finally, the BIGGEST, most IMPORTANT competition of the term, it’s time to talk about CHORALS!!! THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HARD WORK AND FOR GETTING US THE FIRST PLACE WINNN!!!!!

Thanks to the effort of Archana, our chorals captain, our chorals team and the entire house as a whole, we pulled through and won chorals, ending a three year drought and getting Apollo its first win since the current year 12’s were in year 9! A big thank you to the entire house, who were respectful and disciplined on the day and gave it their absolute best during mass singing, earning us the win!

It wouldn’t be right to mention chorals without giving a big, big, big thank you to Archana and the Chorals Team (SHOUTOUT ANNE, SACHIV, SHAUN AND RAYNEN, THE 4 PEOPLE IN EVERY ENSEMBLE), who put in countless hours of hard work, practice and effort both inside and outside of school, which got us the hard earned win. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HARD WORK!

Looking to the future, the House events will not stop coming! We’ve got House Chess right around the corner, so if you’re a keen chess player make sure to sign up! Not only that, HOUSE DRAMA is next term and rehearsals have already begun, so be sure to get ready for that!

It was a big term and an even bigger semester, so be sure to get plenty of rest these school holidays, you’ve all definitely earned it! Get excited because next term’s going to be just as big!

Xo,

Your House Captains, Rhys and Asliyah

KOROROIT

HEY KOROROIT!!

It is the final week of term 2 and we have reached a very well needed break! Kororoit has really put in the drive this past half year and it has been paying off… While the other houses are stuck down 314, 315, and 316 points, we have been CRUSHING it at a blistering 342 points to end off the semester! While we’re still in the lead, we shouldn’t let our guard down! The other houses still have opportunities to keep us on our toes later in the year.

This term was a true test of our creativity and team work. A huge shout out to our wonderful chorals captain, Johanna, who worked incredibly hard along with our musicians. The competition was tough, and we’re truly so proud of the effort everyone put in. A big thank you to our Kororoit dancers Louise, Ivy, Nancy, Acho and Angelo, who put on an amazing performance!! Your dedication does not go unnoticed, and we’re proud of each and every one of you who stepped out of your comfort zone to represent us.

We’ve worked so hard this term, but we know you all have the potential to climb even higher. Now that we’re past the halfway point of the house cup, make sure to show up to every house event as each point counts. We’re currently first place, but the other houses are way too close for comfort. If everyone contributes, whether it’s through participating or showing up to cheer our house on, there’s no doubt we’ll hold on to that top spot!

Enjoy your holidays, stay safe, and come back ready to dominate next term!!

Your captains,

Louise and Lochi
