Prep 2027
If you know any family, friend, or relative who is looking to begin their child’s Prep journey next year, please feel free to forward this information on. We are so excited for our Prep 2027 applications to start coming in and for new Preps to begin their journey with us in 2027.
Applications close on Friday 31st July, and families will receive their outcome on 3rd August. If you receive an enrolment offer, please accept it by Friday 28th August 2026.
Please don’t worry if you haven’t applied before 31st July — you can still submit the enrolment form and supporting documents directly to the office, and we will still be able to accept your application.
Once applications are processed and accepted, families will have the opportunity to attend our transition sessions (dates and activities listed below). These sessions help children become familiar with the school and feel confident and ready to begin Prep from Thursday 28th January 2027. During transition, there will also be an opportunity to purchase uniforms from our school uniform shop so they are ready for day one.
Why transition is important
We believe a smooth transition from Preschool to Prep (Foundation) is vital for giving each child — and their parents — a positive start to school life.
Through participation in this program, children have the opportunity to meet staff, explore the school environment, and connect with the children they will begin school with the following year. This helps them develop a sense of belonging, trust, and familiarity, building a positive mindset as they prepare for Prep.
Transition also allows teachers to get to know each child’s abilities, strengths, talents, and areas where support may be needed. Having this information before the school year begins helps us plan effectively and strengthens the partnership between home and school.
Once your child commences Prep at Highvale, our focus is on developing the foundational knowledge, skills, and understandings needed for a successful start to their primary school years. The learning your child has experienced prior to starting school is assessed through formal and informal tasks, helping teachers understand each child’s diverse learning needs. This process continues throughout the year.
How to apply
Please use the links below for enrolling in primary school 2027, Foundation enrolment, and frequently asked questions. These resources will guide you through the application process using the Department of Education’s secure digital enrolment system, VicStudents, which allows you to complete your Foundation (Prep) application online and receive updates throughout the process.
We have also included the enrolment form, enrolment checklist, and supporting documents. All documents listed must be provided to complete your child’s enrolment. You can send these documents via email, upload them directly through the Add Files section of your child’s application, or submit the full application and required documents to us via email.
