Intermediate Tennis

The girls and boys from Gisborne Secondary Collage departed for regional tennis on Wednesday the 6th of May in Geelong. The players are ranked from one through to four, and must play a singles match and a doubles match against the schools in their pool. Once the girls and boys reached Geelong, they started off with a break practicing the basics, serving, back hand and forehand shots before both their first matches commenced.

The intermediate girls first opponent was Suzzane Cory, with Gisborne winning three out of four matches for the singles matches and both the doubles matches, the Gisborne girls won overall, demonstrating how the girls displayed their skills beautifully from the first round. In the match against the next school, Bayside, Gisborne put up a good fight against the school, receiving their powerful serves that went faster than a bullet, GSC gave there all against Bayside, but it just wasn’t enough, with Bayside winning overall. The girls might not have won overall, but their skills improved out of sight, making the school proud of their achievements making the day all together a success.

The intermediate boys also put in an excellent display, with one man down, Brodie managed to win one game but unfortunately the other teams were too hard of a match and they were unable to beat the competition in all other games.   The boys showed tremendous skill and sportsmanship in all of their games and developed some very good strategies for improving their skills.
