Year 7 Steps Back in Time at the Australian Museum
On Thursday, Mr Kumar and the HSIE Faculty took all of Year 7 on an exciting excursion to the Australian Museum in Darlinghurst as part of their Investigating the Ancient Past History unit.
The day began with a fascinating guided tour of ancient First Nations Australian artefacts, where students explored how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples lived sustainably and in harmony with the land for thousands of years. Students asked thoughtful questions and gained a deeper appreciation of Australia's rich cultural history.
After the guided session, Year 7 had the opportunity to explore the museum's incredible exhibits. From towering dinosaur skeletons and fascinating animal displays to hands-on interactive experiences, there was something to capture everyone's curiosity. Students loved discovering the museum's many treasures and learning through exploration.
Throughout the day, our students represented Evans High School with pride. Museum staff commended Year 7 on their outstanding behaviour, enthusiasm and respectful attitude. They consistently demonstrated our Respect, Teamwork and Motivation (RTM) values, making it a memorable and successful day of learning beyond the classroom.
A fantastic day was had by all, and we're sure our young historians returned with plenty of new knowledge and great memories!
