High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) Term 2 Wrap-Up
As we wrap up another incredible term, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the amazing staff who have worked so hard to create and provide meaningful opportunities for all of our HPGE identified students. Your dedication, passion and commitment to helping our students thrive across their domains is truly appreciated. This term has been filled with exciting opportunities, and it has been wonderful to see our HPGE students flourish.
A huge thank you to Ms Freeman, who launched our after-school Art Studio program. Students have spent their Monday afternoons creating outstanding artworks, and next term we look forward to seeing many entries submitted to the Young Archie competition through this program. Our students involved in the SongMakers program produced some fantastic work this term, with several outstanding students being identified for the Evans Sponsorship Program, what a wonderful achievement.
Thank you to Ms Hanlon for her ongoing leadership in the Physical Domain. Students have been highly engaged through Google Classroom and have embraced new challenges and programs designed to further develop their talents. An extra special thank you to Mr Tudman and Ms Hanlon for organising the unforgettable opportunity for students to attend State of Origin Game I. It was an incredible experience, the atmosphere was electric, and of course… Up the Blues!
To all of our Physical Domain coaches, there are so many to name, but thank you for the countless hours spent training, encouraging and accompanying students to competitions. Our volleyball, netball, basketball, table tennis and soccer teams have never looked stronger. A special shout-out also goes to all of our knockout teams, clubs and academies, where so many of our HPGE students continue to excel in their physical pursuits. Congratulations to all of our high-performing students who were recognised with sports trophies and awards at assemblies this term. Your hard work, commitment and perseverance have certainly not gone unnoticed.
Thank you to Ms Murphy for organising our school's very first participation in Camp Youth Parliament during the holidays. We wish our five outstanding student representatives every success as they develop innovative ideas to help shape the future. Also thank you to Ms Murphy who has continuously taken it upon herself to represent the IEC in the HPGE space, consistently advocating for and including excelling IEC students in across all domains.
A heartfelt thank you to Ms Hunt in the Support Unit, who continues to be a wonderful advocate for our students and has been supporting those involved in the Creative Domain Passion Projects. We have heard so many exciting things and cannot wait to see these projects come to life.
Thank you to Ms Selby for collaborating with the Turner & Townsend team to provide students with authentic industry experiences and valuable insights into careers in construction. We also thank Ms Selby for taking a group of our future thinkers to the ABCN program, where students visited Optus at Macquarie Park and worked alongside industry mentors who were incredibly impressed by the professionalism and enthusiasm of our students. A big thank you to Mrs Bautista and Mr Kumar for taking our STEM-focused HPGE students to Macquarie University's Discover Engineering STEM Day. It was wonderful to see students combining their intellectual curiosity with creative thinking while exploring engineering in such an engaging environment. Congratulations to Mr Sabir and our talented Chess Team, who competed against some of the top schools in New South Wales, achieving an outstanding 4th place and bringing home many wins. An incredible effort from our Intellectual Domain students. Finally, thank you to Ms McKelvie for her work with our Ethics Olympiad and Debating teams. It has been fantastic to see students bringing such enthusiasm, critical thinking and fresh ideas to these programs.
These are just a few of the incredible opportunities our students have experienced this term. There have been so many more that simply could not fit into one newsletter article.
