World Refugee Day

Celebrating World Refugee Day

On Wednesday 18 June, our school came together to celebrate World Refugee Day with a vibrant day of culture, connection and community.

The day began with a whole-school lesson, giving students the opportunity to learn about the meaning of World Refugee Day and reflect on the importance of empathy, inclusion and harmony.

Students and staff then enjoyed a spectacular whole-school performance celebrating the rich diversity of cultures within our community through music, dance and storytelling. We were also delighted to welcome visitors from Walters Road Public School and Blacktown West Public School, who joined us in celebrating this special occasion.

One of the highlights of the day was our multicultural food stalls, with every faculty and the IEC working together to prepare and share a wonderful variety of traditional foods from around the world. The stalls were buzzing with excitement as students sampled delicious dishes, learned about different cultures and enjoyed spending time together.

World Refugee Day was a wonderful reminder that our differences make us stronger. Through food, music and shared experiences, our school community celebrated respect, belonging and the many cultures that make Evans High School such a welcoming place. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to making the day such a memorable and successful celebration.
