Fr Chinua's Farewell Assembly
On Tuesday we invited Fr Chinua to a very special assembly during which we celebrated and thanked him for all he has done for our school and parish.
It was lovely to hear children, from each class, share some memories and thoughts about Fr Chinua. Here are a few of their comments:
"Father Chinua, thank you for helping us pray. We have liked singing with you at Mass.
Your smiling, happy face when you come to visit us at school has made us happy."
Chase and Nella
"Fr Chinua, I like you because you are so kind and you tell us funny jokes." Farham
'Thank you for making everyone feel welcome, and like they belong. You have made Mass and school such a joyful and enjoyable time. We thank you for everything you have done for our school and church community." Carmen
"Father Chinua, my favourite memory is going to church and doing my First Communion with you. I have known you since prep. I also like how you make sure you include a wide variety of people to answer questions in Church." Mackenzie
We presented Fr Chinua with a prayer written especially for him and our talented choir sang
'Guide me Good Shepherd' which they had learnt especially for the occasion.
Hope in Unity Multicultural Mass
It was wonderful to see so many SFX families and students at the Hope in Unity Mass last Sunday. I especially want to thank the children who volunteered to come along and sing during Communion. We joined with students from St Augustine's to perform two Andrew Chinn songs 'These Hands' (one of our favourites) and 'Hold My Hands'.
I am always touched when our students and families offer to participate in events such as this which involve a commitment over and above the usual school events. Thank you parents and carers for supporting and encouraging your children in their willingness to be involved.
Year 1/2 Mass
Both 1/2 classes will be helping facilitate the 9:15 mass on Tuesday, 16th September.
Families from all year levels are welcome to attend. If your child is in Year 1/2 please don't hesitate to come and sit with them during the mass.
Whole School Prayer
We have a busy time ahead with lots of events happening on Fridays.
Our next Whole School Prayer will be on Tuesday, 9th September at 8:50am.
Warmest wishes and God's blessings,
