Saint Francis Xavier - Principal's Report
Term 3 - Week 6
Dear Parents and Friends of St Francis Xavier,
This week marks the final days of Father Chinua’s ministry in the St Francis Xavier Parish. We give thanks for the beautiful farewell Mass, which was celebrated as part of the Jubilee/Multicultural Mass at St John’s last Sunday, and for the special school farewell during our assembly this week. Both occasions were wonderful opportunities for our parish and school community to show our gratitude for Father Chinua’s warmth, guidance, and the many ways he has enriched our faith journey. Thank you to the families who were able to join us at the Jubilee Mass and for the students who participated in the choir.
Uniform Shop moving off-site
From Week 9 this term, our school uniform shop will be moving off-site. Commencing Term 4, all new uniform items will now need to be purchased from Peninsula Uniforms & Embroidery, located at 1/1 Titan Drive, Carrum Downs. Families will also have the convenience of ordering uniform items online by visiting peninsulauniforms.com.au. We understand that this change may cause some inconvenience for families; however, almost all MACS schools now operate with external uniform shops, and those that are not are being encouraged to make this transition as soon as possible. Please be reassured thatsecond-hand uniform and sports tops will still be available for purchase at school.
The last day that brand new uniform items can be purchased from school will be Wednesday 10th September.
School Closure Day
A reminder to all families that next Friday 5th September is a school closure day at S.F.X. On this day, our staff will work with staff from Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) to complete the 'Team Teach' training.
Team Teach is a specific program MACS utilises to help staff manage challenging behaviors and create safer environments. Team Teach training has been shown to reduce behaviour incidents, increase staff confidence, improve students' emotional regulation, and foster a positive behavior culture in schools.
Seesaw
Our teachers have been posting student work samples and Rich Assessment Tasks on Seesaw, and the children are always so proud to share their learning with you. We’d love families to engage with these posts by leaving a “like” or adding a positive comment. When students see that their families value their efforts, it builds their confidence and encourages them to keep striving to do their best. It also helps strengthen the home–school partnership, showing students that teachers and families are working together to celebrate their learning journey.
RoboCup Regional Challenge
A huge congratulations to Ema, Esha, Otis, Sam, Daniel, Kevin and William who took part in the RoboCup Junior Outer East Competition on the 15th August! The teams worked so well together and showed off some amazing problem-solving and critical thinking skills as they trained their robots to tackle tricky courses and challenges. We are still waiting for the results, but we are already so proud of their effort and teamwork. Well done, RoboCup superstars — State Titles, here we come!
School Disco
The school disco which was tentatively booked for next week will now be rescheduled to take place in Term Four.
Have a great weekend everyone!
