Mr Will
The last two weeks we had been practicing for our assembly, we spoke about what we did at camp that was set in the 1850’s. We had to write and present our favourite experiences at Sovereign Hill. My favourite memory was looking for gold at the goldfields, playing in our cabins and watching people make lollies.
In writing we are writing information reports about a famous person and how they shaped Australia. I'm learning about Vida Goldstein, she is famous for advocating for women’s equality and being the first women to stand in parliament. For our writing, we had to complete a 5W’s and H, this stands for Who, What, When, Where, Why and How. We are then going to write an information report about what we find.
For sport the last few weeks we were lucky enough to have two people from Western Port Stealers, it went on for 3 weeks and the 5/6s had a lot of fun.The two people that trained us are named Kyle and Liam, who were the best players I have ever seen (in my opinion). My favourite thing was when we had to say “excuse me” when we had to steal the ball, so I earned the name “Miss Excuse Me”.
In inquiry we have been researching events that helped shape Australia. My partner is Wendy and we chose to learn about The Blue Mountains. We had to do 5W’s and H, which is basically Who, What, When, Where, Why and How, very similar to writing. A fact about The Blue Mountains, is that in 1813, Gregory Blaxland, William Charles Wentworth, and William Lawson were the first European settlers to cross The Blue Mountains.
Hi 5/6W families,
We have a couple of very busy weeks coming up at SFX. Next week is Student Progress Meetings, if you have not already, please make sure you have booked in a time. In week 8 (not next week but the week after), we have Book Week, this will be paired with Grandparents day/afternoon, where students will be split into their house colours to do a teacher led activity with the grandparents. Then in week 9, we will have sports colours day and our showcase, both on the last day of school.
I hope you all have a great weekend.
Regards,
Mr Will & Miss Yvette
