Celebrating Students

Aysha from 8L has some exciting news to share
I wanted to share some exciting news; I’ve recently been selected as part of the Blue Minds National Youth Advisory Council, chosen from over 200 young people across Australia. The council brings together 15 students nationally to help shape youth-led ocean and climate initiatives, so I’m really grateful to be involved alongside such an inspiring group.
As part of this, I also wanted to share an opportunity that could be great for other students at our school who want to practice leadership and environmental action. Blue Minds, which is a youth ocean leadership organisation and has run workshops to over 12,000 students across Australia last year, is running a free 8-week Academy, where students can take an idea they care about and turn it into a real project, with support from mentors, workshops, and guest speakers. Applications are now open: https://surveyaus.typeform.com/academy
It would be amazing if this could be shared in the school newsletter/student bulletin to students who might be interested; I’ve attached a flyer and deck with more info.
They also offer free workshops for schools, focused on positive mental health, environmental and ocean literacy. If that’s something the school would be interested in, you can reach out to kal@surfersforclimate.org.au.
