Athletics Day 2026 – Who Took the Win?
We all ask the same question: Which house won?
Throughout the day, students from different houses competed against each other, all aiming to be recognised as the most athletic house at Brinbeal Secondary College.
We interviewed a range of students about their experiences. Many described the day as exhausting but, in their words, “worth it,” as they pushed themselves to achieve strong results for their house.
During our interviews, we spoke with several competing students, including Hrishi, Ava and Mia M. They showed our school values of aspiration, achievement and respect throughout the day. In the 15-year-old age group, Hrishi, Ava and Mia M placed highly in multiple track events.
From what we saw on Athletics Day, Warreen (Orange) House made a big comeback compared to previous years, challenging recent winners Kooira (Blue). While this is just our estimate, we believe Warreen may have come first based on the number of students placing highly in events.
What do you think?

ATHLETICS DAY WAS A SUCCESS!
What an exciting athletics day it was! Every student participated with great enthusiasm, truly reflecting our school values. The energy was contagious, creating a lively and positive atmosphere. The day was filled with fun and excitement, and the weather held up for most of it, making it even better.
Cheers filled the stands as friends and houses came together, their voices full of joy and pride. The air buzzed with chants and encouragement, celebrating the spirit of teamwork. Laughter rang out as students caught up while supporting their teammates. Kooira (Blue) House was especially confident, believing they were winning every event!
Of course, it wouldn’t be an athletics day without a few challenges. Some students in Warrat (Green) House felt discouraged at times; however, many stayed positive and continued to contribute. Warreen (Orange) House celebrated two fast wins in Year 7 events, while Coolup (Purple) House showed strong participation with many talented athletes.
Overall, it was a fantastic day that brought our school community together.

This year’s athletics was such a fun experience. I got to see lots of really good sportsmanship between eachother, I'm so proud of everyone who participated and I'm so surprised on how well our house did on athletics. Good job everybody!!!
Warren had a great day out at the track and field. The running events were a huge hit across all Warren students where we placed in the top 2 in every race. Everyone across all the events gave their all which proves Warren finishing on top was well deserved. The day was a huge success with students happy and cheering their friends and house all day long and we were lucky the rain held off so we got in all the events.

I really enjoyed this year's Athletics carnival. I saw many new faces that were proudly representing Warrat. I am verry proud of everyone who participated and tried their best. I saw many talented runners, who have gone above and beyond to show their strengths. I believe we have a good chance at ranking up this year!
This year at the athletics carnival lots of people tried their hardest at the events they chose, such as the 100m, high jump and even a relay at the end of the day. The first even was the 800m in which lots of people tried hard and the crowd loved cheering on their houses. Next was all the track and field events such as, 100m, 200m and the 400m, Warrat did very well earning us a few 2nd and 3rd place ribbons. But personally, the highlight of the day for me had to have been the relay between all the houses at the end of the day. At first, it was the 15year old girls, in which we got a 3rd place ribbon, next was the 15-year-old boys, we had a decent start but a not-so-great middle portion, but we managed to clutch up and get a 2nd place ribbon. Next was the 14-year-old girls and 14 boys, the girls did decent earning us another 3rd place ribbon however the boys absolutely dominated earning us our only 1st place ribbon for the relay. The day was competitive but a overall blast of fun, and everyone looked so fired up for the events they were looking forward too.

Athletics day was a day many of us were waiting for. Everyone was hyped up and couldn’t wait to get house points. We had many events though the races were probably everyone’s favorite. Throughout the day, Kooria showed incredible determination and spirit. Students competed in a range of events including sprints, long-distance races, relays, and field events. What stood out most was the teamwork; everyone cheered each other on and stayed positive even when things didn’t go our way.
It was great seeing people trying something new and stepping out of their comfort zone. We are especially grateful to the students who stepped up when nobody from wanted to run for our relay team (Thank you!). Overall, even though we might not technically win this term, we are still extremely proud of everyone for trying and giving it their all. We had so many people win and participate in all sorts of events. It was amazing to see unity, resilience, and school spirit among everyone. Being House Captains of Kooria made the experience even more meaningful, and we proud of the effort and attitude our house showed throughout the entire day.
