Chaplain's Message

"Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labour in vain"                                                                                                                                  Psalm 127:1

As I sit in the Swag Chapel every Sunday evening, I am reminded of the work that has been done to build this house of God where deep prayers and reflections have been the cornerstone to what it is today. The different hands, minds, energy, and love that has wonderfully come together to put this great big house of God together.

I am reminded of the verse that Rev Dr Fred McKay used as the foundation of this sacred space, the school, and a space where humans and all living creatures share their deep love for the environment. The Rev Dr McKay felt that it might be easy to believe that human success is through hard work, strategy and grind. However, he also believes that without the strong foundation of deep faith in God, intentional relationships and purpose, the process would have been exhausting. 

This verse is known to be a song of the ascent of King Solomon, when Solomon built the temple, he had to keep moving or climbing upwards physically to build the temple but also spiritually moving closer to God step by step each day through hope and deep faith. The Psalm is about working diligently and trusting God during the whole process. At the end of the day we lay our concerns, stress, despair and fears to God, thus recognizing that our security is in God alone.

Prayer

Lord I lift up this school, students and staff. Thank you for Rev Dr McKay and the great vision and wisdom which laid the foundation of this school. May you be the centre of this academic season, the foundation of every classroom, lesson and study session. Grant sharp focus, clarity and an open mind to learn. Protect us all and let your wisdom lead the way every single day. Through Christ we pray.  Amen.
