One of the most rewarding aspects of our International Student Program is seeing students embrace new experiences and discover interests they never knew they had. This term, several of our short-term international students shared their reflections on learning at Warrandyte High School.
For many students, the opportunity to participate in practical, hands-on learning has been a highlight of their Australian education experience.
“Food Technology has been my favourite subject. I never expected cooking lessons to be so much fun. It was exciting to learn new skills and create delicious meals by myself. I felt a real sense of accomplishment when I saw what I could make.”
Students also spoke positively about the supportive and personalised learning environment at Warrandyte High School.
“What surprised me most was how well teachers knew their students. Everyone has the opportunity to participate, ask questions and learn at their own pace. I never felt pressured when I needed extra time to understand something.”
This student-centred approach helps create inclusive classrooms where students feel valued, supported and confident to challenge themselves.
Another memorable experience for our students has been exploring future study and career pathways through the school's diverse curriculum offerings.
“I didn't expect the pathways and career exploration programs to be so interesting. Learning about different industries and career options helped me think more seriously about my future and gave me greater confidence in the direction I want to pursue.”
Through a combination of academic learning, practical experiences and personal growth opportunities, our international students continue to broaden their horizons and gain valuable insights into both education and life in Australia.
Their reflections remind us that international education is about much more than improving English language skills. It is about building confidence, developing independence, discovering new passions and preparing for future success.
