Attendance: Every

day counts

The Importance of Regular School Attendance

Regular attendance at school is one of the most important factors supporting a student’s learning, wellbeing and overall success. Every day at school provides opportunities to build knowledge, strengthen skills, connect with others and develop positive habits for the future.

Learning is continuous, with lessons and concepts regularly building upon what has been taught previously. When students attend consistently, they are better positioned to keep pace with their learning, participate fully in classroom activities and maintain confidence in their understanding. Even occasional absences can result in missed learning that can be difficult to recover.

Being at school each day also supports much more than academic progress. Regular attendance helps students establish routines and develop important qualities such as responsibility, organisation, punctuality and resilience. These habits contribute to success at school and prepare young people for the expectations of further education, training and employment.

Just as importantly, attending regularly strengthens students’ connections with their peers, teachers and the wider school community. These relationships contribute significantly to a student’s sense of belonging and engagement with school.

We continue to be encouraged by the positive attendance of our students and we thank our families for continuing to support regular attendance and ensuring students are at school, on time and ready to learn whenever they are well enough to attend.
