ABODA South Australian Band and Orchestra Festival
Congratulations to our talented instrumental music students on their wonderful performance at ABODA, the South Australian School Band and Orchestra Festival. Our Strings Ensemble, featuring students from Years 3-10 and conducted by Ms Danika Hecht, performed on Tuesday afternoon with the fiery rhythms of Tango Tracienero by Kirt Mosier, before shifting into a completely different gear to deliver the infectious, syncopated groove of Stompin’ by Neridah Oostenbroek. The ensemble was awarded a Bronze Award in recognition of their musical achievement and dedication.
Our Combined Concert Band, comprising students from Years 6-12, also delivered an impressive performance of Blinding Lights (based on the hugely popular hit by The Weeknd) arranged by Matt Conaway, followed by It Casts Its Eye Upon Us Gently by David Goddard. Our Concert Band was recognised with a Bronze Award. These achievements reflect the commitment, teamwork and countless hours of rehearsal demonstrated by our students and staff.
We congratulate all performers and thank our conductors and music team for their ongoing support and encouragement.

Catholic Schools' Music Festival
This September, our Year 6 Choir will travel to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre to perform in the 38th Catholic Schools Music Festival.
The Festival is a truly unique event in South Australia, which celebrates all aspects of music and performance across all Catholic schools. Over four nights, five hundred different students will perform each night, showcasing their talent and enthusiasm for music. Our Year 6 classes have been working diligently to learn their lyrics, music and actions, and will work closely with other primary and secondary schools in the Adelaide Archdiocese to bring it all together in one large-scale, unified performance. Loreto students will be performing on Wednesday 23 September – save the date!
In this Franciscan Jubilee Year celebrating peace, we invite you to witness the remarkable talent of South Australia's young people on one of four evenings presented by the Catholic Schools Music Festival. Featured soloists, big bands, vocal groups and more will demonstrate an astonishing calibre of musicianship, while the 500-voice choir is sure to leave audiences inspired.
Behind every performance is a story of dedication, creativity, courage and countless hours of practice. These students have poured their hearts into bringing this moment to life, not just to entertain, but to move, inspire and connect with you. Your applause means the world. Let’s celebrate their incredible efforts together!

Our College is fortunate to have a strong network of co-curricular tutors who provide regular tutelage to students in a variety of disciplines. Over the coming months, we will spotlight these wonderful tutors who do so much for our community.
Elias Degeorge
With more than 25 years of experience in music education, Elias Degeorge is a passionate conductor, educator and arranger dedicated to inspiring young musicians to achieve their personal best. A graduate of the Flinders Street School of Music, Elias holds several degrees in Music Education and has devoted his career to developing outstanding school music programs.
Throughout his career, Elias has led comprehensive school music programs, directing concert bands, stage bands, jazz combos, choirs, percussion ensembles and rock bands. He has also overseen concerts, performances and national and international music tours, creating memorable opportunities for students to perform, collaborate and grow as musicians. Elias believes every student can make a meaningful contribution to an ensemble and is committed to helping young musicians develop the skills, confidence and discipline to perform with pride.
At Loreto College, Elias is the Director of the Concert Band and Senior Stage Band as well as a current parent. He is strongly invested in creating the best experiences and outcomes for our students across all Music pathways. Elias is passionate about creating engaging rehearsals that challenge and encourage every student while fostering confidence, teamwork and a love of making music together, and we are grateful for his dedication and expertise.
