Passing on the Keys 

When we first arrived at Loreto Boarding House, we felt the mixture of nerves and excitement that comes with leaving home and beginning something completely new. Coming from the Yorke Peninsula alongside five other girls gave us some familiar faces, but it was the welcoming environment created by the older boarders, particularly the Head and Deputy Head Boarders at the time, that helped us settle in and begin forming new connections.

 

Over the years, some of our favourite memories have come from the everyday experiences of boarding. Sharing rooms with different girls has given us the opportunity to build friendships across year levels and create many special memories together. Boarders Week has also been a highlight each year, giving us the chance to celebrate where we come from and share the boarding experience with the wider College community.

 

Being Head Boarder and Deputy Head Boarder has been a particularly special way to finish our boarding journey. One of our first responsibilities was helping to plan Rose Giving for the graduating Year 12s, and throughout the year we have had the opportunity to foster connections across year levels and help create the same welcoming environment that was created for us when we first arrived.

 

As our leadership time comes to an end, we are very proud to pass these roles to our new Head Boarder, Airlee, and Deputy Head Boarder, Matilda. We congratulate them both and hope they enjoy the opportunity to lead and contribute to boarding in their own way. 

 

We are incredibly grateful to the Boarding staff who have supported, encouraged and cared for us throughout our time at Loreto, and to the many girls who have made boarding such a significant part of our school years.
