Thank you to all the families that were able to join us for last week's whole school assembly. The students did a terrific job sharing our learning so far this term, and sang one of our favourite Andrew Chin faith songs "These Hands".

Our Year 1/2 students have had a wonderful week swimming at PARC. It’s been such a joy to step outside the classroom and learn in a different environment, and the children embraced every moment with enthusiasm. The bus ride there and back was just as exciting as the swimming itself, with plenty of chatter and smiles along the way.
In the pool, the children showed fantastic effort, resilience, and growing confidence. They should be very proud of everything they achieved this week.

The Grade 1's have been working hard to consolidate their phonemic awareness and fluency. We practise reading fluency for the first 10 minutes of our lessons each day. Improving reading fluency helps children read with confidence, accuracy, and expression. Each child has their own goal that they are working towards during our fluency time. Some are working on accuracy (reading the words correctly), others are working on fluency (not too fast and not too slow), and others are working on adding expression to their reading, and making sure to follow along with punctuation.
In writing, the children are busy working on their own creative Grug stories which they will share on Special Persons day.

Our Grade 2 students have been busy exploring the features of 2D and 3D shapes. They’ve loved searching the playground and discovering just how many shapes are hiding in everyday places. A favourite activity has been our shapes‑themed version of Celebrity Heads. I wonder how many shapes you can spot at home.

Our students have been investigating how robots follow instructions through hands‑on programming experiences. Using counters, maps and Bee‑Bots on the iPad, they explored how clear, sequenced commands guide a robot’s movements.
This week they are working on designing their own robot to help keep their rooms clean.
Barry recently visited Zade and Amy. At Zade's house, Barry enjoyed playing hide and seek with Zade and meeting his sisters. Amy took Barry to Woolworths and the Fish and Chip shop. Amy's cat did not like having Barry come and stay!
Frank visited Ravenna and Chris. Ravenna took Frank to a birthday party and spoiled him with all sorts of treats. Frank had a lovely time with Chris, playing with his toys and sharing in bedtime stories.

Recently it was Principal appreciation day. 1/2LT worked hard to brainstorm some of the qualities they love about our principals. Mr Steve and Ms Erin were blown away with their kind, accurate and funny words.
