Bullying, No Way!

On Wednesday, our school community stood together to recognise Bullying, No Way! Day. It was wonderful to see so many students wearing purple to help raise awareness and take a active stance against bullying. Throughout the day, we had meaningful discussions in class about kindness, respect, inclusion, and how we can all play a part in creating a safe, supportive environment both in the classroom and out on the yard. Thank you to all our families who were able to support this important day!

Bullying:

  • What it means: Intentionally hurtful behaviour that is repeated over and over again.
  • The rule: It involves the three P'sPurpose (meant to hurt), Pattern (keeps happening and won't stop), and Power (an imbalance where one child uses size, popularity, or strength to control another).
  • Examples: Leaving a classmate out every single day on purpose, regular name-calling, or hitting someone to scare them.
  • How to fix it: It requires direct help and intervention from a trusted adult.

Cold Writes

The students recently completed their termly Narrative 'Cold Write'. A cold write is an independent assessment task completed with no prior teaching or preparation, giving us a genuine snapshot of student progress over time. By looking closely at how they structure their plots, develop characters, and apply spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, and paragraphing, we can see how much their writing skills have grown. These insights allow us to tailor our explicit writing instruction for the rest of the term to support and extend every student!

Stop Motion animations

After weeks of learning, experimenting, and preparation, our stop-motion animations are officially underway! The students have been hard at work mapping out their ideas on storyboards. Over the next week or two, they will be bringing their visions to life as they craft their characters and mini production sets. We hope to begin filming and editing with the Stop Motion Studio app during Weeks 8 and 9, leading up to an exciting screening where we will watch everyone's completed animations as a class in Week 10!

Kind regards,

Brendan and Ashleigh.
