Performing Arts

Over the past few weeks in Performing Arts, students have been building their understanding of basic percussion and expressive singing. We’ve explored keeping a steady beat, creating simple rhythm patterns and working together to stay in time as a group. Using body percussion and untuned instruments, students have developed their confidence in maintaining rhythm while listening carefully to those around them.
A strong focus has also been placed on expressive singing. Students have been learning how to use their voice with intention and thinking about dynamics, clarity, posture and facial expression to communicate meaning to an audience. From Week 5 onwards, they began applying their growing stagecraft skills to a song performance, considering how stance, projection and engagement can elevate a simple performance into something polished and purposeful. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they put these elements together.
Our whole school choir is also progressing beautifully and sounding fantastic. The enthusiasm and commitment each week have been impressive, and the blend of voices continues to strengthen. We are very excited to be unveiling our new choir name and performing at assembly this Friday and look forward to sharing this special moment with our school community.
