Our school is located on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation.

Community Connection

It was great to see a number of parents at our recent reading workshop. Reading is fundamental to a child's learning and together in partnership with parents we can ensure children have the best opportunity to learn. If you were unable to attend our workshop, please take a look on our website for more information, we are also very happy for parents to volunteer their time in our reading program.

Our recent open classroom and BBQ event was a huge hit with an estimated 100 families enjoying the BBQ and enjoying informative walkthroughs with children. It was great to see children explaining their work and the pride and confidence that was on display. A special thank you to the teachers who supported the event and the school council members who generously donated their time on the BBQ.

Building Brilliance

Last week Julie our curriculum learning specialist and myself participated in the first of 2 workshops at the leadership academy. There we gained a deeper understanding of the science of learning and how we as educators can implement point of need responsive teaching measures to address the needs of our students. In the coming weeks, our Parent Corner section will begin to slowly outline how you can support your child at home using such strategies.

Upcoming Events

NAPLAN begins next Wednesday the 11th for our Year 3 and Year 5 students. This can be an anxious time for students as they navigate their way through a number of online and paper-based assessments. To support your child in the lead up, you may wish to facilitate some timed practice exams at home in a nice quiet environment. Other such wellbeing strategies include:

  • Keep it calm: Treat NAPLAN as a normal school day and avoid big build‑ups.
  • Stick to routines: Ensure good sleep, healthy meals, and a smooth morning.
  • Reassure them: Remind your child it’s just one snapshot of their learning—not a judgement.
  • Stay positive: Use encouraging language and avoid talking about scores or comparisons.
  • Focus on effort: Celebrate their persistence and progress, not results.
  • Stay connected: Let teachers know if your child is feeling worried.
  •

Finally, a huge thank you to the BPPS community for all the well wishes regarding the arrival of baby #3 - Oliver.

We are all doing well.
