Major Project – Belshazzar’s Feast

We are now on the home stretch. Today we had a full day of rehearsals in preparation for our performance on Tuesday night. Tuesday’s production day in CPAC will be a technical rehearsal creating the lighting and sound for the whole show. Please come and support the students in this challenging endeavour.

Anzac Day

Anzac Day keeps out students busy with performances commemorating our servicemen and women. During last Thursday’s assembly, the College Big Band performed and the Choir sang the Australian and New Zealand national anthems. Elliot Kendall again played The Last Post and Reveille. On Anzac Day, members of our choir sang with St Monica’s choir at the Dawn Service. Accompanied by Cairns Brass, the students performed the hymn God of Our Fathers as well as the Australian and New Zealand national anthems. It was a beautiful and moving service.

SHEP

Several of our students will be representing the College at the State Honours Ensemble Program at St Mary’s this weekend. This program is run by the Queensland Conservatorium of Music Griffith University. Students are selected by QCMGU to participate in this weekend of workshops, rehearsals and performances. We wish our students all the very best.

QREP

QREP, run by CQUniversity, will return in 2026 on the weekend of May 30–31 held at Saints. Because we host the event, our students can participate at the discounted rate of $100. Some amazing guest artists will be working with our students during the weekend, culminating in a concert on the Sunday afternoon. Last year’s event was fantastic and is set to be very popular among all the students of the region. So, if you’re interested in being involved, register early.

TAO Samurai of the Drum

Last week our Percussion Ensemble Cerise and senior musicians attended the above mentioned performance at CPAC. The Taiko drumming group from Japan are touring Australia. Students were spoilt with a dramatic and theatrical cultural display of music, movement and dance. The troupe demonstrated traditional instruments such as taiko drums, flutes, koto and biwa along with acrobatics and dance. It was a fantastic experience for our students. 

2026

Our program is busy and vibrant with many opportunities for performances. We entertain at assemblies, perform in productions and music nights as well as provide liturgical music for the College. Our students have many performance opportunities.
